This bridge is the third one constructed here, with the first two being of wooden design.
The first was a rickety wooden pony truss, on high timber piers, while the second was a covered wooden deck truss.
Built in 1896, a trio of deck girders are set onto steel substructures with stone abutments. These girders are slightly wider set than normal,
The bridge crosses the gorge some 80 feet above the water. Overall, it appears to be in fair condition.
The author has ranked the bridge as being moderately significant, due to the unique design.
